When Heidi Turner moved to Townsville 17 mango seasons ago, she quickly saw what so many overlook. This region is full of extraordinary organisations, businesses and people doing remarkable things, but not always telling their story well. Crystal Clear PR was founded in 2009 to change that.

With a career spanning Australia, the UK and Europe, Heidi has built a reputation for trusted, straight talking strategic advice that cuts through complexity and gets results. What started as a marketing communications business has evolved into a full-service strategic advisory and corporate affairs practice, working with hundreds of organisations from local small businesses to state government and everything in between.

That evolution led to the introduction of Crystal Clear Advisory, a name that more accurately reflects the breadth and seniority of the work delivered today.

Heidi is the only Australian Institute of Marketing Certified Practising Marketer in Townsville, the national body for the marketing industry. She has seen the full spectrum of how organisations promote themselves and the same patterns come up again and again regardless of size or sector. Messaging written for the organisation rather than the audience, social media that is busy but not strategic, good stories that simply are not being told. Most of these are fixable, often more quickly than people expect. What it takes is an honest outside perspective, clear priorities, real experience and a practical plan.

After two years as CEO of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce, where she grew membership, rebuilt the Chamber's profile and led nationally recognised advocacy on insurance affordability, connectivity and the cost of doing business in regional Australia, Heidi returned to Crystal Clear with a sharper focus on the work she loves most. Today she works with a select number of organisations as a Fractional Corporate Affairs and Communications Executive, providing senior level strategic capability on a retained or project basis for organisations that need that expertise without the overhead of a full time hire.

As much as Heidi loves the complexity of economic development and high-level advocacy, she loves working with smaller businesses just as much, where change can be swift, and the results of clear practical recommendations are felt immediately. That energy is something she genuinely thrives on, having impact.

A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), Heidi brings more than 17 years of board experience across infrastructure, health, education, transport, arts, national sport and the not for profit sector.

Heidi currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Port of Townsville, Treasurer and Non-Executive Director of Regional Development Australia North and North West Queensland, Board Member of The Cure Starts Now Australia and member of the Queensland Government's Regional Jobs Committee.

Getting started with Crystal Clear Advisory is simple. We meet with you either in person or online, to discuss your needs, goals and project scope.

From there, we develop a clear proposal outlining our recommended approach, deliverables, timeframes and costs for you to review and approve.

Once approved, we get to work.

One of our most popular services is our marketing audit, a practical, independent review of how your business presents itself and connects with its audiences.

We review your current marketing, including your website, social media, brand messaging, content, campaigns and customer touchpoints, to understand what you’re putting out into the world, how it’s landing and where the gaps and opportunities are.

No assumptions or generic advice, just an honest picture of where you stand.

We then meet with you, either in person in Townsville or online, to walk through the findings and understand your business goals, your team’s internal capabilities and what you need from a marketing partner.

Drawing on our specialist expertise, experience and trusted local networks, we develop a simple, practical plan that identifies what you can manage in-house and where external support will make the biggest difference. More often than not, the process also uncovers quick wins you can implement immediately.

For some businesses, this is where our work together ends, and that’s completely fine. You leave with greater clarity, practical recommendations and a plan you can act on.
